Several things, a standard Ambo will have a dash like this

a police like this

notice the key is in the dash on the civilian, it is under the seat on the left
side on a police model.
the Police should have a side stand that attaches to the left crash bar instead
of the frame as on a civilian.
the seat on a police is a solo seat , the police if as origional, had a
siren, lights, a radio carrier, all those cool things. It will also have a
bracket welded to the frame on the left rear for the siren mount, this
interferes with a tool box, so police models only have a tool box on the right
side, where civillian models have them on both sides.
carbs as origional should be Delorto's and work great, I have never heard good
things about Amals on a Guzzi, but have never experienced them myself, Anyone
have info on them to add?

I'm thinking of buying my first guzzi, how can you tell a police version from a civillian, is one more desirable then the other? my triumphs run great with amal carbs, do the amals work good on the ambo? are the origonal or reprints of the shop manuals hard to come by? any other tips on purchasing a 1970 ambassador would be greatly appreciated. alex honig ------------------------------------------------------------ Join "Taylorcraft Foundation and TOC" now! http://www.topica.com/lists/taylorcraft/ ___________________________________________________________ T O P I C A The Email You Want.http://www.topica.com/t/16 Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics |
