Time to balance the carbs ??

Bruce: the later version loops had ports in the intake manifold to
allow for vacuum reading and accurate balance adjustment. The earlier
loops did not. Once you do a loop accurately using the vacuum system,
you will wonder how anyone can be accurate and successful the old way.
It is possible to retrofit newer intake manifolds to the older loops.
It is also possible to mill a small flat spot for sealing and to drill
and tap the existing manifold to use a vacuum port. Careful, not much
thread depth available. If you know a precision welder, you could build
nice aluminum lugs on the manifolds to allow for a better drilling and
taping spot. It takes VERY little change in cable or carb settings to
make a big difference in idle and roll-out performance. I know some are
successful with the old system, but for me, the speed and accuracy of
the balancing work can not be done other than by vacuum reading.
