I've had a problem trying to set idle by pulling the plug wire. If I do it the way described, my bike is turning over slowly enough that my oil pressure light comes on and it's kicking over really slow.

I have used a dwell/tach meter to set the RPMs at idle, and it "feels" right when set that way.
