Thanks for your help Rick. Gap on top piston ring grove was 10-12 thou for at least 25% to 35% of the diameter of the piston. The ring was broken when installed by the past owner. I put new rings in , have 165 psi but have a loose lifter noise that starts about 25 mph you only hear it on steady running. I guess you would call it a high noise cause it sounds like a lifter ajusted too loose ! No noise when under load or decelarating or idleing.
