John, You can also bypass the starter relay, and wire the starter straight to the "start" button. It will eliminate months of trying to figure out what causes the starter to "Click" when you hit the button. Greg '74 Police Edo

Hello, all: My '72 Eldo occasionally responds to the starter button
with a loud click. Can happen once or several tries in a row, then
will fire up as normal. Seems to have plenty of juice to spin the
motor, more like the starting relay is hit and miss(?) Also a bit more
apt to do it on restart on a warm/hot engine than on a cold engine,
though it did it to me cold last night, thus prompting the post.
Doesn't seem to be a function of weak vs strong battery. Suggestions?
