Matt,
Never had a problem, but they are very fine threads. I would remove the
wheel. The added weight might be screwing things up.
Plus, did you anti-seize the threads on those. If not , I would.

Anybody have trouble getting the swingarm spindle pins to start
straight? I'm having trouble getting the LH pin to start and go in
straight. I borrowed the tap from Greg Bender (thanks again Greg) and
chased the threads because I thought that maybe powder coating on the
threads may have contributed.
But I'm still having trouble with that side.
Anybody have tips on getting things to line up? I am putting it back on
with the wheel still attached (left it on when I took it apart to pull
the trans.)
