Might be voltage spikes from a loose fuse. Those little tabs lose tension. Bend them in and re-insert the fuse. Also check that the bullet connectors inserted into the didtribution block are all titght. look for one that looks burnt. Ben in the tabs and re-insert. You might want to put in a relay system that takes feed right from the battery. I can tell you how, or I make them.
As for the running problem, most likely the choke plunger is hanging up. Most likely cause is the cable not being fully seated at the splitter or at the carb. Make sure there is freeplay.

I made a gasket out of cardboard and wrapped it with little strips of duct tape. Took awhile but I was bored anyway, seems to work great so far.
Another thing I found that might be handy for some of you guys. I took my old transmission input gear to Ace Hardware and found a nylon insert that fit perfectly into the shaft so that I had to lightly hammer it in and it stays on its own. It has a hole through the center of it that is exactly perfect for the bolt that screws into the crank end. So, this one nylon bush and a bolt and washer with no modifications turned my tranny input gear into a clutch centering tool. I've used it twice now with perfect results. Not sure of any part numbers but if you guys need it I can try to find it.
