Hi Mark, A couple of things I would check on the headlight issue... 1. Be sure that you have the large gasket/o-ring that fits between the headlight retaining ring and the headlight itself. If missing or badly disentegrated, I suppose it is possible that the headlight could jiggle around, causing premature burn out. For a replacement, do the Mark Etheridge trick and cut a length of screen-door/screen-window rubber to fit (the piece that you press into the channel that keeps the screen in place). |
I made a gasket out of cardboard and wrapped it with little strips of
duct tape. Took awhile but I was bored anyway, seems to work great so far.
Another thing I found that might be handy for some of you guys.
I took my old transmission input gear to Ace Hardware and found a nylon
insert that fit perfectly into the shaft so that I had to lightly hammer
it in and it stays on its own. It has a hole through the center of it
that is exactly perfect for the bolt that screws into the crank end. So,
this one nylon bush and a bolt and washer with no modifications turned
my tranny input gear into a clutch centering tool. I've used it twice
now with perfect results. Not sure of any part numbers but if you guys
need it I can try to find it.
