Hi David,
Thanks for the pics...I've got a Sigma on mine - always interesting to
see alternatives. It looks like you can see your speed, trip odometer,
and current time on the screen at one time...is that right? If so,
that's pretty cool as the Sigma I have only combines speed with one
other function on the screen at a time.
As for getting ready, I got a bunch done this weekend, too:
- changed engine oil and did some general lubrication
- fixed my broken tab on the side cover - looks like it will hold and
I've become a believer with regard to JB Weld :>
- hooked up some more electrical doodads (light for the oil pressure
gauge, digital volt meter, power outlet, etc.)
- installed Fiamm hi and lo horns - operated via relay
- adapted a luggage rack to fit in the pillion spot (first person at the
Nats to correctly guess what it originally came off of get's a libation
on me!)
- created new mounts for my saddle bags (this took a long time for me
but I'm happy with the outcome)
Tomorrow I pack up - can't wait til Tuesday after work!

I have a policy of not messing about with bikes prior to a long trip. Today I changed the oil (but not the filter, I didn't drop the pan) and added the Topeak bicycle speedo that has lain in a box since Christmas. Here are the specs on the Topeak: http://www.topeak.com/products/computer_001.html I ground the supplied magnet to a wafer and then had to cut it in half to get it to clear my F09 caliper - Not a lot of clearance and my mounting positions were limited by the length of supplied wire and my desire for an inconspicuous mount. I cut a piece of ally to create a mounting bracket. Even unpainted it is not too ugly. Notice the magnet glued to the rotor at the bottom of the picture. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/guzziownr/magnet.jpg The display is quite large but fits nicely between the handlebar clamps. It will be awhile before I get used to all the functions. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/guzziownr/clocks.jpg I don't ride much at night but one or two of those light-up bolts would solve the illumination problem if I decide to go that way. http://www.speedstash.com/larger/L5790199.jpg DW |
