I think you just mentioned all of the things that I went through last
year at this time when I first got my Eldo. It has the four leading
shoe brakes, they work great once you know how to adjust them. There is
a lot of info out there about these loop frame bikes and how to make
adjustments. Do some searches, I think Greg Bender has a lot of great
info on his web site. My oil lite would come on at differnt times while
riding. It was a bad sender. The loop engine has an odd size thread, 12
x 1.25 pitch I think. I had to make up an adapter to fit a real pressure
gage to the block. It worked fine for a while but the aluminum rod
cracked over time and it puked oil everywhere. If you want to know if
you have oil pressure, just back out on the sending unit slowly while it
is running and you will get oil running out of the threads as the sender
gets loose in the hole. Be careful, they pump up to 40-60 psi so if the
unit pops out, you'll get a quart or two everywhere in a hurry. I just
disconnected the wire after I was sure I had good pressure.
-Make a good positive(firm) shift with the heel toe setup. My only
problem is my foot doesn't fit down on the floor board between the
shfiter. I'm making a wider shifter so my size 12 will fit properly.
-Try one of the electronic flashers. I put one on mine and it made a big
difference. I also installed an after market switch control for the
signals, lites, horn, etc. Remove the snuff boxes. Not original but very
functional.
-I set my carbs by disconnecting one spark plug at a time and setting
the idle on the one carb where it would just run and then set the
mixture for best idle, next replace the wire and remove the other one
and do the same procedure to the second carb. With both wires on set the
idle for lowest acceptable idle. Worked good on mine.
Don't worry it will get better, once she's right you will love it.
