From: Greg Bender <gr-@thisoldtractor.com> Hi Todd, There is an o-ring that fits on the plunger (the outer body)...in a recessed grove. Perhaps it has gone bad or is missing? That would certainly permit oil to come out from the plunger. But, moving air can do stange things to leaking oil...I would also check the following: 1. It is possible that the shift shaft is leaking oil. This is the shaft that eventually connects to the shift lever via linkages, etc. The 5-speeds have an o-ring there, but the 4-speeds do not. It is a source of weeping, but usually not very much. |
It is a 4 speed and I don't think it is leaking too bad.....some may have
come from the breather....I will clean it off and see where it is coming
from.
Thanks Greg.....
2. If the engine breather tube exits pretty much straight down from the breather, then any oil that exits the tube will be flung around toward the rear and will probably end up on the rear of the transmission, too. Hopefully, you just can order a cheap o-ring from Rick and Gordon and be done with it. |
