Does anyone know what there are 2 kinds of handlebars? Is it because the police bikes needed to clear the fairing, or was it so they could control the bike with one had better? I have the police bars but they feel kind of odd being bent inward so much. Do any of you prefer the police bars? why? |
Actually there are two types of civilian bars, USA and European, besides
the Police "cowhorns". The European bars are narrower than the USA
style. It depends on the rider. I had stock bars on my first
Ambassador, and they put the rider in the proper position, with a slight
forward lean, weight on the thighs. It was so comfortable that I would
ride until I went on reserve, stop and fill without getting off, and
take off to ride more.
When I bought an Eldo, I had the dealer put on police bars, and I hated
them, because they made me sit upright, my tail bone taking all the
abuse. I couldn't last more than 30 minutes before the pain got to me.
Same reason I find the current cruises to be very uncomfortable. My
Centauro has Jackal bars now, and they are perfect, and the Ambo has USA
bars, also very comfortable.
