Screw in a couple of drywall screws into the seal. Use them to pull the
seal out with a pair of pliers or ViceGrips.

They can certainly get wedged in there pretty good. In the one a did a
couple weeks ago, I pulled with one of these seal pulling levers (the
kind with the two hooks on each end. Worked well for me. Best of luck.

Finished troubleshooting/shimming the tranny ('74 Disk Eldo Police 5 speed) and am doing final assembly, so I'm replacing seals. Can't seem to get the rear output shaft seal out, although I did find the hidden spring in the channel when I ripped the underside rubber trying to remove it - oops. The replacement (blue) seems to have a softer "rim" than the one in the tranny. Any tips? Thanks, -tom. |
