I've run the Odyssey batteries in my last 5 bikes. I currently have one in my Lemans 1000. I've never had to trickle charge them thru winter, never had a failure or any leakage like the cheap ass wet cell batts. The Odyssey(Hawker/Genisis) batteries are awesome. |
The Hawker Odyssey batteries are in fact the real deal. I've put three
of them in three bikes and never had to fool with them again. I
replaced the 6-year-old one in my Centauro even though it didn't need
it, and am now using the old one to power trailer brakes.
They last forever, they can be mounted on their end or upside down, and
they DON'T lose their charge when they sit for a long time.
So why am I using a $110 lead-acid battery in my Eldorado instead of the
miraculous $85 Hawker? Because the Eldo came with a lovely,
non-corroded, powder-coated battery hold-down, the only one I've ever
seen, and I was ashamed not to use it. And the stock Eldo battery is
the ONLY one that exactly fits the stock hold-down frame, which includes
little cutouts for the vent and terminals.
I guess that once the lead-acid battery has sputtered some fumes on it
and it's no good any more, I'll go to a Hawker in the Eldo too and tie
it down with a piece of inner tube like any normal cheapskate Guzzi
owner.....!
