Hi Rich,
I have four Marelli starters and all of them have the spring. As I
posted last night, all have the fiber washer, tab washer w/tabs towards
the end cap, washer (approx. 1mm thick) and then the spring in that
order. Here's the measurements of the spring: 21.5mm o.d, 18.0mm i.d.,
21.8mm long, wire thickness is approx. 1.65mm. Looks like five pounds of
pressure when compressed 13mm (measured on a bathroom scale of dubious
accuracy).
Looked in my spring drawer and found a nice gold cad plated one of
nearly identical dimensions, so something similar must be available at
the local hardware store. If not I'll send you the one I found for free.
Cheers,

Hmmm, There was no spring at the end, but thanks for taking the time to respond. Mark E. if your out there, do you know about a spring under the end cap of (all) Marelli starters? Thanks, Rich -----Original Message----- From: Charlie Mullendore |
Hi Rich, The 2nd edition V700 manual has the best and only correct illustration I have. The order it shows is: fiber washer, tab washer (w/tabs towards the end cap), washer (your shims?), spring. From what I remember that's the assembly order in the few I've had apart as well. I can check to make sure tomorrow evening if needed. Cheers, Zink, Rich, ITD wrote:
