Not sure without being there, but it sounds like the bottom of your
tank might be almost rusted through. Tap around the petcock with a
little hammer or poke it with a scribe or something sharp to check the
condition of the metal.

| Hey All, I was getting ready to strip my tank yesterday for painting and as I was trying to remove one of the petcocks the threaded recess started to bend in on the tank body. The petcock never came off and I don't think I can try anymore without the metal breaking totally. |
