Lannis,

My "lurching" clutch was due to a warped intermediate plate. Pay close
attention to the plate when/if you pull the engine. Indications on the plate
will be intermittent polished areas on the contact surfaces. Of course check
all the other things too.

I found it hard to believe that the plate could have been the problem but
after thinking about it all signs went that way. Perfect operation when
cold.....grabs when hot. Just before I changed the clutch would not
disengage. I suppose due to the fact that the plate was warping enough to
cover the gap on disengagement. Remember these plates do not separate very
much. If you plan on continuing to ride for a bit....adjust the clutch to
push in a bit more to give a little more space betwenn plates.

Once I changed mine.....problem went away. Too bad it took me three engine
pulls to figure it out. I did find that the previous mechanic had not paid
attention to put the speedo ball bearing into its recess too...which I
thought was the original problem.

The good news to all of this is I picked up an excellent Eldo for a very
cheap price. Should I send a thank you note to the dealer who worked on it?
:-)

Regards...Ian

Well, as I mentioned once before I think, the clutch on my Eldo has gone
permanently goofy.
