I really didnt think much about guzzis until JT Nesbitt started writing
about his chopped Guzzi in Iron Horse back in the mid 90's. One of the
guys I knew at the time became obsessed with having a loop chop. Well,
Nesbitt opened up a bike shop in cincinatti, this guy bought a civvy
eldo for 3 grand and immediatly the timing chain failed. So I trucked
it from indy to cincy and old boy told JT he wanted to chop it. JT
ripped into him and told him he would be an absolute fool to chop a
pristine bike. guy was crushed because hero just pissed in his martini.
JT said if you want a chopper, I'll sell you an sohc 750 but you leave
that thing the hell alone. I agreed with JT. The guy crawled into the
bottle and when I ran into him again Jesus had told him to sell his
Eldo. Two months later I found mine, cheap.
I've worked on triumphs, hondas, ducatis and I never have as
much fun as when I'm working on this Eldo. I am awed at the free
exchange of knowledge and ideas here. On my favorites site tool bar
this is not "topica loopframe" it's "guzzi group therapy" Thanks!
