Greg:
The guy who does my painting puts a stripe of por-15 around the
filler neck with a striping brush first. Then he seals the edge of the
paint there with it after. I don't know about Guzzi tanks, but others
I've worked on are soldered together, including the filler neck. I like
the JB weld idea, you can never be too careful.

welp, out of the 7 or so tanks i painted this year, 1 has bubbled around the filler neck. it's not a screw type cap, and i didn't paint all the way up the neck. what am i doing wrong? i thought the paint generally got ruined by the caps cutting into the paint, and getting under it there, but this one i can't figure out - should i have painted with por-15 or something first? what is the best way to do this so there is no question that paint will not bubble. |
