Yeah. that was me whining about the action of the hand brake on the
Convert. These are some interesting tips, Mike. I guess I'll have to get
my Guzziology out and check it out. I think I have a set of new Brembo
"green" pads to try. I really sort of think that the condition of my
master cylinder and the caliper are suspect. The Brembo calipers of that
era use steel pistons and most are now corroded and sticking to some
degree. You can rebuild them, but the cost of new anodized aluminum
pistons, seals, and a set of pads is real close to the price of a new
caliper. I was thinking of trying a F09 caliper instead of the F08. It
bolts right on (sort of, I think they are only available in LH and then
they are hard to get) and gives you about a 45% increase in piston area
vs. the F08. I've done this before, and it transforms the front brake.
Thanks for the tips!

Who was it that wrote saying that although the brakes on his new Convert are much better then those on his Ambo, he would like an even stronger front brake? Was it Darryl? Darryl, according to Guzziology the linked brakes bikes come from the factory with low-friction pads on the hand-operated front brake so that the front brakes don't overwhelm the rear one. Perhaps the easiest way to get more stop out of your front hand brake would be to switch to the same pads used on the front foot-operated brake, which is a higher friction compound. Guzziology discusses this in detail. Also, I notice that rebuilding my front master cylinder has resulted in a stronger brake. Perhaps yours could use a rebuild, too.
