Hi Mike,
1. FWIW, my '76 Convert had over 40k hard miles on it when I bought it
and according to the original owner still had the light flywheel. My
buddy bought a '76 with 13k easy miles on it and his fractured around
the crank bolts at about 20k miles.
2. Dale Peterson (sp?) used the left toolbox to make the fluid reservoir
on his Eldovert (or is it Converado?). Welded all the holes and lid
shut, then added a filler (from the stock Convert tank) and inlet/outlet
fittings. If you're worried about capacity, you could add an inch or two
of metal between the lid and back of the toolbox. Dale wasn't
experiencing any problems last I spoke with him.
He's using an automotive drag-racing electric fuel pump to circulate the
fluid, regulated to 30 psi if I remember correctly. Of course, he has
plenty of electrical capacity to run everything with the Geo Metro
alternator. And those LeMans IV forks and brakes are sure to make a
difference in the handing and braking...
Cheers,

I asked these questions on the Convert Yahoo List but thought I'd ask here also since that group is still kinda small...good group though, so join if you're into Converts(http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/MGconvert/) Anyway, here are my questions.... 1. I have a perfect earlier/light flywheel that I'm thinking of using on my Convert Custom...Guzzilogy says that the bikes are quicker with the light wheel...also more fragile...anybody else have experience with both the heavy(which I also have)and the light flywheels? My project will probably weigh a couple hundred lbs less than a stock Convert... 2. Any reason I can't build a custom tranny fluid tank for my Custom...would the quantity that it holds have to be the same or could it hold more tranny fld?
