Hi Chuck,
here's my $.02 worth...
1) replace the switch with new, get two keys and avoid switch problems
down the line. MG Cycle (http://www.mgcycle.com) has one for $35.75 and
Moto International (http://www.motointernational.com) has an "improved"
one for $23. Original toolbox and steering locks are Neiman - blanks are
available from BMW m/c dealers - such as: (http://www.bmwbobs.com). As
previously suggested, drive the pin out of the toolbox lid and take the
lid to a good locksmith.
2) Reproduction items are available from MG Cycle, "torpedo" style
mufflers will have a smaller outlet though.
3) Mark at Moto Guzzi Classics (http://motoguzziclassics.com) should
have the bucket and fork covers/mounts, new headlight rims are on eBay
regularly. You may need the fuse panel and terminal board inside also,
depending on how original you want to go.
4) Still some NOS originals around but not cheap usually. Maybe someone
on the list has a good used one for Chuck? Lens made by Peterson
Manufacturing for trailer light will fit almost perfectly.
5) If you can find a good used head, I'd go that direction. Unless you
can do the repair yourself - either way it'll probably cost about the
same. Factor in new guides, seats recut and either used head or repair
costs.
6) Mark or on eBay for a good tach.
7) Again depending on how original you want to go, Japanese switch gear
was a period modification, o.e. CEV 169 "snuffbox" switches are
available but can be pricey.
8) This is America! You're free to make it whatever color you'd like.
Purists will cringe, but they likely need the exercise anyway! :-)
Originally, models destined for the US were red, black or white. But
some lovely green and salmon colored 850GTs (the European's Eldo) came
in late in '74. Get Greg Field's fantastic book "Moto Guzzi Big Twins"
for the rest of the story.

We're all a bits nuts here - Welcome! Cheers, Charlie.

To my seriously untrained eye, here's what I need:
 (1) Key. Is this a problem?
(2) headers/mufflers
(3) Headlight. It had a windjammer on it, and he'd bent the ears over,
and cobbled the fairing on there. ;)
(4) The taillight is rectangular, I *assume* this is not the right one..
(5) One head is missing the threads for the exhaust nut. Repair or
Replace? I have a machine shop, could do it if I have to.
(6) The tach needle is pointing to 4K except the pointer is broken off.
(7) I don't think the left hand controls are original, look Japanese to
me. Clutch cable is missing.
(8) It's a ahem lovely shade of red and creme, again I *assume* it
should be either black or white?
