Hey All,

Not sure why bikers are targeted more than someone in a car. Certainly you
can't smuggle as much on a bike.....but I suppose that there is a little
more scrutiny in way of searching for contriband or weapons. That, in my
experience, is what the Customs people are looking for.

As a Canadian travelling into the US I have never experienced any problems.
In fact, when I travelled to the MD rally (a week after 9/11) I wasn't asked
to provide documentation or even asked what my citizenship was....only where
I was going, how long, and what was in my bags. Now I suppose had my name
been Muhammad Al Nerid I may have been looked over. Don't even think that
they aren't profiling. The more you look like a "HD Hooligan" the narrower
their eyes will get. Just the way it is. By the way.....I have never had a
problem returning back to Canada either.

One more thing....a lot depends on where you cross. Windsor, Detroit, Niagra
are lousy places to cross. Look for the quieter places to cross without
going too much out of your way.

Canada is a great place to ride....people are friendly too....so I heard :-)

Ciao...Ian

Haven't been in a long time, not on a bike since 9/11. I used to
ride Canada
quite a bit. Allot depends on the person. What mood they are in.
Never had a
problem on the bike though, one time coming back to the U.S.... A car was
riding my ass the whole way to the customs booth. It was a female customs
agent at the booth. Never asked me the typical questions, Citizenship?,
Where were you and why? ect. She said she had been watching the car behind
me the whole way up to the booth. She said her and her ol' man
ride and she
can't stand seeing crap like that and to go ahead through. Said she would
take care of them. Heh, Heh. As I was riding off a look behind showed her
saying something to them, pointing her finger at me then at them. Then the
dreaded search tag was placed on the windshield. Ha!

Be prepared to have all of your shit gone through with a fine tooth
comb; I've heard from several people that going into Canada on a bike is
an experience they won't repeat.

 Good question, anyone know?
