I used to truck in and out of Canada for years with no problems.Seemed like it was harder coming back to the States than going into CA. I think it has a little to do on how you present yuorself. Have all your papers in order, don't make small talk and no cute answers.{ got a couple good campfire stories on that one} I used to cross at Osoyoos, Patterson, & Kings Gate and once in a while at different POE in MT. & NY. .During fertlizer season 5 or six times a week.
Then 2 years ago I was driving my car and was going to cross at Windsor, they ran my drivers license and told me I had to turn back.Seems as in 1972/3 ? I got written up as DUI, but it was reduced to speeding/with the stipulation I not get another moving violation for one year and everything would come off my record.I was driving truck at that time and didn't that kind of baggage. Anyway 30 years later it came back to bite me.I guess Wa. State puts a little red star behind your DL # if it was a alcohol related ticket. Not convicted, just written.
Leon and list Do all you guys have clean criminal records? At the No Dak and Minnesota (Manitoba) checkpoints they turn away lots of people as "inadmissables" .. Accordingly if you have anything on your record that is a felony in canada they won't let you in. DWI/DUI, certain reckless driving charges, speeding (20mph or more), simple assault, any domestic issues even if it was'nt your fault, and all kinds of other things. Most of these type charges are misdemeanors in the states, but felonies in Canada.. It seems they start with license plate to find out who owns the vehicle and it goes from there. This has been the norm for about 4 yrs. maybe they are rmad about SoDak prohibiting truckers from hauling canadian beef thru So Dak. Either I'm really bad, or other checkpoints are a lot slacker.
