I don't think I would rush to change jets until the cold start rubber
stops were replaced . It is far more likely the rubbers are leaking than
someone at some time putting OS jets in .

Check choke cables for freeplay. If that's OK, change idle jets. Stock size is 45. I run 40s in my Eldo, which is a 950, like yours. Can anyone tell me why the stock main jets for an Eldo are 1445s, while the stock mains for the 950-cc SPs and Converts are 125s? Seems odd, but what do I know? As for idle mixture, turning the screw clockwise leans the mix; counterclockwise richens it. Start with 1.5 turns out from seated on both mixture I adjust the left cylinder first. Turn its idle speed up and the right side's down, so the left is ding most of the work. Turn the left's mixture screw in slowly until that cylinder starts to run rough or its idle speed stalls. Then, turn out by 1/4 turn, wait 10-15 seconds, and repeat until you get the highest idle speed for that cylinder. It really help in this to have an inductive tachometer hooked up because it shows small changes in rpm that are hard to catch by ear. Then do the right, after turning its idle speed up and the left's down. Oil those K&Ns because they don't filter anything smaller than an ant when dry, and they also release what dirt they do catch as the gauze dries out. GF |
