Running rich that is. My new-to-me '75 Eldo is exhibiting all the
symptoms of running very rich at idle; starts first turn on no choke,
lots of black, gas-smelling smoke, sooty plugs, sort of ragged, wet
response off idle to fast throttle opening. Runs good, smooth, good
throttle response on the highway at speed, although that's no indication
of anything, I know; I'll have to check the plugs and gas mileage and
see if it smokes there too. It runs exactly the same with and without
the K&N pod filters.
I have Guzziology, the ultimate accessory addition book to the manuals,
but no manuals yet.
I know Amal carbs, how the idle screws work, how the needle, needle-jet,
slide cutaway, and main jet act together at different speeds to provide
the right mixture, so...
Are the Dellortos that I have on the Eldo the same sort of reptile? Is
there a quick and dirty way to tell me how to adjust the idle mixture?
I don't want to use the list as a walking talking factory service manual
(I've got one ordered), but if it's like my BSA carbs, I can fix it
pretty quick.
Thanks!
