Hey All,
Well....the White Eldo is back together and the clutch ready to be tested.
Only problem is that I can't get the old girl to fire. I'll have to break
down and buy a voltmeter (my other one is 1500 miles away) since it is the
only way I will be able to trace the problem. I am thinking it is either the
coil itself or I am not getting voltage to the coil. At any rate....at this
point I am not getting a spark from the coil to the distributor.
My question: Voltage from the battery goes to the + side of the coil and
the - side of the coil goes to the dist....right? Also...there was another
wire to the coil. I am thinking that this wire is for the tach. Does it
matter if this wire is connected to the + or -? The coil that was on the
bike had the wire running to the -ve side of the coil.
Interesting to note.....this White Eldo had an aftermarket coil without the
internal resistor. Would this make a difference? I'll try and find a Bosch
Blue.
The bike looks good now that it is back together. She kind of has this
patina of "old classic". She is going to make a great runner. As I put her
through the paces I will start replacing all the mismatched standard bolts
with metric ones. I'll also need to do a lot of aluminum rubbin'. She'll
clean up nice once I shake off the "H-virus" :-)
Each bike seems to have its own character. Little differences that make each
one unique. Very cool.
