What kind of shape are the needles and atomizers in? How about the
float levels?
Has it ever run (for you) with these carbs on it?
If the needles and atomizers are worn, it'll get real fat right off
idle.

Hope I can get some carb help. Finished rebuild of the Ambo. Bike starts up fine, idles OK. But it hesitates and backfires when you give some throttle. Valves adjusted, timing right, jet sizes all stock. Once you get it on the main circuit it seems OK. Plugs look sooty like it's rich. I've tried adjusting the mixture screw, but doesn't seem to help. Should I go down a size on the idle jet? What else can be checked? Trying to get running right by Mid-Ohio.
