Thanks Jesse and Paul! I'll take a stab and holler if I get in trouble.
Also going to take Paul up on his offer (if'n he's still agreeable) as

You can do it whilst the dist is still in the bike carefully of course . A hooked scriber type tool is handy. The "trick" is not to overstretch the spring as it quickly loses it's calibration if over stretched . It may be best to take the distributor out and check the shaft and bushings etc. Much of the timing vagueries oft blamed on points are in fact wear in other places. There are still many shops across the country that specialize in distributor rebuilding . The Guzzi unit is any easy task for a good shop. If you have trouble email me .
