I've found that steel wool can scratch chrome. Autosol is good for clean
chrome, and wonderful on aluminum castings that need polishing.
For burned on oil, oven cleaner (lye) does a great job and does nothing to
chrome. Autosol doesn't work too well on baked on grease, and using
something to scrape it off mostly will damage chrome..
