It was a warm and rainy new years day, so I spent the day in the shop
(now insulated thanks to my two guzzi-owning carpenter friends) and
finished up a lot of small electrical stuff while I wait for the seat
and rear brakes to get here.
I am using stock switchgear, so I put two small relays in the headlight
bucket to carry the juice to the Carello halogen headlight someone
foolishly left in my yard in the carcass of a CX500 Custom. I ran a big
fat wire directly to the battery and used an inline fuse. Works
perfect, and I can hear the relays clicking with on-off and high-low.
Hopefully it will prevent the switch from melting.
I ran a wire from the ground of the starter relay to the neutral switch,
so it will only start when the idiot light SAYS it's in neutral. That's
what the wiring diagram shows, and it seems to work.
The starter relay works, solenoid, the horn, blinkers (backwards), the
brake light and running light (when I ground the taillight bracket).
Where does the stock ground cable from the battery connect to the bike?
The new harness has one very long thick separate cable, but I am not
sure if it's positive or negative.
I need to take the battery hold down to the battery store and try and
find a sealed battery that fits.
