Got some time today to putz around with Patience. Think I may have
solved the trans fluid leak on the rear plate. The bottom right bolt
would not torque enough so I tried a few different bolt lengths, then a
different thread pattern which torqued much better. Hope it works,
think it might. Also spent some time getting the cop radio trunk
situated for mounting - drill holes, re-spray the bottom, mount the
dummy antenna, and make a lock. Lastly, took off the screen as I
realized the bottom center piece was mounted incorrectly in front of the
main screen rather than in back. This was causing a ton of buzzing as
the wind was catching it. Got it all fixed, walked up to the bike, then
put the screen in the corner and stared at the Ambo. My how sweet she
looks without a screen, almost like a whole new animal, so much more
vintage looking without it. I have a totally new appreciation for the
beauty of a bare bone loopframe. I do still like the screen for
breaking the wind off my chest as I ride, but I think I'll keep it off
for at least one ride to see if all of the buzzing I am hearing up front
is indeed the screen, plus want to see if I can deal with not riding
with a screen, though the winter is probably not the best time to ride
without one. Gotta run back to the garage now and get another stare at
that screenless beauty vintage loop!
