The brake light switch is a common culprit. The internals are dagerously
close to ground at many points. The plunger can ground out when it wears
or an old spring warps. If you are handy the switch can be opened and
made better than new ! If you are faint of heart you can buy a new one
and HOPE it doesn't fail within the first couple of weeks lkie so many
have.

 I've got a 69 Ambo with the original CEV tail light.

Every time I go for a ride, the brake light fuse blows. It doesn't
blow right away,so it is hard to trace.

Here is what I've done so far:
1. isolated the brake light to it's own fuse

2. run a new wire from the battery to the fuse

3. run a new wire from the other side of the fuse to the front and rear
brake switch

4. run new wire from the other side of the brake switches to the brake
light

5. changed the brake light bulb.

The only thing I haven't changed is the brake light assembly itself,
though I did examine it and it appears in OK shape. Is there a history
of these things shorting out? Can the positive terminal inside of the
socket touch the negative side? Only thing I can think of is that it
moves due to vibration during riding. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone got
a decent replacement for sale? I guess I've got until next spring to
figure it out.
