hey, Eric-
kool. hope you post some pics. that will be a real crowd grabber! yeah,
you're right about the leak. i hate to say this, but this is the 2nd time in
a row with mgcycle's rear main seals. used 1 from sportcycles, and the eldo
don't leak anymore. gonna go up there wed. and get another one- altho
they're $10.00 higher that mg.
what kind of shape is your crankcase breatherbox and hoses in? sometimes
this will look like an interior leak [coming out of the bellhousing].
whatever i do, it's gotta be quick- suppose to be snowing by the weekend.
no heat ya see. sigh.

I feel your pain. When I did the frame swap on my Eldo this summer, I
replaced the broken shifter detent spring, and while I was at it put in a
new main seal. It had been leaking a drop or two, and as long as I was in
there..
Now it leaks a lot more, and continues to do so even if the bike sits for
a couple of weeks. Where could it be leaking from? Seems to me that the
leak should not be from the main seal if the bike is just sitting--The oil
level should be way below that, right? Where could it be coming from?
Would it be illuminating to pull the oil pan? Is there anything to be
seen?
My vote would be to not pull the engine, but I don't like pulling that
engine much. To pull the engine you have to do almost everything you'd do
to pull the swing arm linkage wise.
I've also been busy cleaning up the metal parts of the trailer hitch
saddlebags you sold me, for the chromer. It's gonna be good, just the
thing to pull my windsurfers to the beach next spring.
