Andy,
"what the heck can it be, now? damn, i'm depressed."
AHHHHHH, I see Patience is starting to get to you too, eh? She earned
that name ya know.
I spoke with Gordon today, we figure the only possible sources of the
leak is the main seal, oil line, flange bolts, or breather box. He said
to make sure the crank does not have a wear line on it, cause it if
does, that may be the source if the new seal is riding on the old seals
wear point. That can be remedied by either pushing the seal in a bit or
pulling it out a bit so it is spinning on a new surface. Flange bolts I
believe you sealed up. I gather once she is back apart, there should be
a sign of where the oil is coming from. As for the carbs, he said the
venturis make a huge difference, guess we'll see when they arrive. As
for the idle drop when the clutch is pulled, he said his V7 does it
also. Apparantly the crank is floating, he said perhaps when the clutch
is pulled the crank is moving forward a bit and binding up on the front
seal or something. Ideas anyway to check out when she is apart again.
Keep her as long as necessary, would like her right rather than right
now. A special present awaits when she's done too........... Give me a
shout when you find out more.
Thanx!

hi gang- took Keith's ambo out for a toot, and discovered, much to my disbelief, that there's an oil leak- drip, drip, from the bellhousing. [!!!!!] the rear mainseal is new, blah, blah, blah. what is the gereral concesus- leave the engine in the bike and remove the swingarm and the trans., or pull the whole engine/trans. back out? he wants her home sat., which leaves me 2 days [tues. and thurs.] to get this fixed. what the heck can it be, now? damn, i'm depressed. tia, andy |
