Hey Andy,
Saw Pat's post, will call Mark E later this a.m. as he is 3 hours behind
us, and check on those velocity stacks. Don't have them anymore as the
Guzzi dealer gave me a box with the OEM air cleaner system remains after
he put on those K&N's. I sold it all as a package on e-bay, wish I/he
knew the v-stacks were needed!
Oh, BTW, I wonder if the sluggishness can be jet related? I think the
Guzzi dealer put a bigger jet in the carb to account for the air flow
increase caused by the K&N's. Perhaps you can get input from that Guzzi
dealer by you when you cruise on up there.
Yeah, go ahead and get Cam a hat also, put in on my tab. As for when I
want the bike back, I'll wait until you are happy that everything has
been tended to/fixed. Sounds like you want to get that clutch cable and
brake cable changed out, and fix the carb issue (v-stacks), so lets get
that done, take another ride, and get your final analysis. When you are
pleased with the final product, then it's time to come get her.
BTW, I was trying real hard to check out how the clutch cable is
supposed to be run. In all the pix I found, it appeared that the way
mine was run was correct. I looked at a few pix in Greg Fields book,
some on cyclegarden.com, and some in an old Chilton manual I have. It
looks as if it runs from the clutch handle towards the triple tree, then
down by the generator (the manual even shows that clutch cable clip that
holds the cable to the gen cover), then down above the left cylinder to
the actuator arm. I wonder if this is indeed correct and perhaps I
don't need a new clutch cable?
Oh, and there will be a special thank you/prize when this is all done.
Thanx!
Keith

Thanks, Pat! i didn't know. [hey Keith! did ya see this?] Patience seemed kinda sluggish, but persistient. angry, hungry, shackled [come ON come ON let's GOOOOOOOOOOO!] but the carbs said "hey- you are being over-fed". Keith- are ya gonna call Mark? [again?] or do ya have 'em in your garage? if so, ya just grind off the 'rings' so that the K&N's fit. got your message! ok! all is well! :>) andy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patrick Hayes" <peha-@aol.com> To: <Loopfram-@topica.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 23, 2002 01:16 AM Subject: Re: velocity stacks In a message dated 10/22/2002 7:20:31 PM Pacific Daylight Time, alh-@adelphia.net writes:
The stacks are important to create a smooth, laminar flow into the carb. From my personal experience, fuel mileage is better, acceleration smoother, top end stronger, etc. Patrick |
