I wouldn't use the color alone. Some 10.9 grade bolts are bright plated
and some are black. Go by the number. I always buy new
flywheel-to-crank bolts, and use new schnoor washers and a bit of blue
locktight, and torque to 30 ft/lbs.
The ring-gear bolts are usually bright and grade 8.8. I reuse them.

Andy,
Thanks. Now is this for the 6 on the flywheel and the 8 on the ring
gear.
All of them are the silver kind. The flywheel 6 have the locking tabs
but
the 8 ring gear bolts do not.

i believe it's 28 ft.lbs. for the dark colored bolts. according to dave
richardson, the earlier silver colored bolts only go to 8 ft.lbs. [!!!]
correct me if i'm wrong!
