Mike,

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. The surfaces of the bodies appear to have
Races which the bearings have run in, otherwise known as a circular recessed
area where the bearings are. Guess what I was getting at was to find out if
these faces started out as smooth surfaces.

The roller bearing solution sounds promising as I would assume both inner and
outer bodies would be replaced to go with the new bearing configuration.

Thanks
David

Hi, David and all. I know someone else told you that
there should not be grooves on the faces of both
bodies, but I had the same thing happen to my ambo,
and I had rings on both bodies. Now maybe we are not
understanding what you mean by grooves. Do you mean
the circular recessed area that the balls of the
throw-out bearing run in?

BTW, I got a needle-bearing replacement for the
original ball bearing setup from Sport Cycles in New
York. It fit in the hole without enlarging it, which
would be necessary if you use a throwout bearing for
an Eldo.
