Yes,that is the bike. I tried to sell it here for $3500 with no takers.
He gave a LOT more than that.
I bought it last year about this time and it looked real rough when I
brought it home. It had been sitting since 1978 in an unheated garage.
Only had to rebuild the mighty Amals, put in a fresh battery,of course
changed all the vital fluids and she was good to go.Just another loop
that was "One step away from the junk yard" that is once again going
down the road !
It was an HONEST ,original 1974 . Dave added some Left Coast touches
that I think took a lot away from the bike but it is his bike now and he
seems very happy with it.

Hi Jesse/Gary. Just curious as to whether the Eldo you sold Dave at
Sport Cycles was the one with white wall tires. Very nice! If you don't
mind me asking... how much did he give you for it and what did you think
of the blue Laverda SF2? $4995 seemed rather high, but I really liked
the bike.

Congrats !
Put em together like you intend to RIDE not like you expect to TINKER
and they RUN !!! Even the old Triumphs started on the first kick after a

complete rebuild. Brought a huge grin every time. Nothing wrong with a
set of Amals either. I just sold my '74 Eldo with Amals to Sport Cycle
in New York. It ran GREAT ,I think it even had a better top end than the

Del'Lorto carbed Eldos. Just a little different in operation . I'm
thinking of a pair of Mikunis for my '72. 34 or 36 millimeter should be

about right .

After a longer than planned rebuild of my Eldorado (started in Jan) I
fired it up this weekend, I was amazed how easy it came back to life.
With a new top end, replaced the Amals with a set of Delorto's,
completely disassembled the motor to clean all the sludge out of it, new

wiring, powdercoated the frame and various parts, etc, I really had to
wonder if I got things together correctly. I must have got the carbs
and timing fairly close, after cranking over a few times with the plugs

out to get some oil in the upper end, it turned over about a half a
dozen times and fired right up, no backfire, no leaks, it even idled
halfway decent. With all the talk lately on "modern Guzzi's" I think
when you take one apart like this and put it all back together, and it
seems so eager to run, there will always be a spot in the garage for one

of these, regardless of how may other bikes new or old I may acquire.
