After a longer than planned rebuild of my Eldorado (started in Jan) I fired it up this weekend, I was amazed how easy it came back to life. With a new top end, replaced the Amals with a set of Delorto's, completely disassembled the motor to clean all the sludge out of it, new wiring, powdercoated the frame and various parts, etc, I really had to wonder if I got things together correctly. I must have got the carbs and timing fairly close, after cranking over a few times with the plugs out to get some oil in the upper end, it turned over about a half a dozen times and fired right up, no backfire, no leaks, it even idled halfway decent. With all the talk lately on "modern Guzzi's" I think when you take one apart like this and put it all back together, and it seems so eager to run, there will always be a spot in the garage for one of these, regardless of how may other bikes new or old I may acquire.
