Tom and Fred,
By the way, my forks leak near the top, that is the oil starts way at the
top and runs down. I have never seen oil near the bottom of the forks ( I
always wipe off excess oil before it can get to the bottom of the forks).
So, before I go after the wrong problem is this the fork seal or is it
something else wrong with the fork? Thanks again, Bob

Bob, The degree of ease or difficulty depends on how handy you are and what tools you end up needing. If you're fairly good with a wrench it should be no big deal to get the forks off the bike. Removing the collars that contain the seals can be a pain if you don't have the wrench, but sometimes they just come apart without a lot of sweating and straining. The seals themselves are nothing special, just generic metric oil seals. Putting the forks back on the bike can be challenging without the aid of the tool to draw the tubes back up into the upper clamp. Robert Hawkes wrote:
