I just rev her up till it quits advancing (usually around 4k) and set it
there on the fully advanced mark. Idle and lower rpms can take care of
themselves.

critical.

you can get timing lights with tach, but they cost more.

Subject: Timing

Have starterd getting over my fears of mechanics and dove into basic
mechanics the other eve - condenser, points, valve check, new gen belt.
Getting ready to check/adjust the timing on Patience for the 1st time, I
have never done this before and need help. I plan on borrowing a light
from a friend, and I have seen how to adjust the timing by lossening the
bolt and moving the distibutor etc... Question I have is the book calls
out for checks at multiple RPM's, how do I know what RPM's I am at
without an RPM guage on the bike? Is that part of the timing light kit?
Any other tips for timing loops?

Thanx much!
