Possible that your bushings are worn out inside, causing the oil and valving to be less efficient. I've had mine rebuild because they were feeling pretty bad (bouncy/bottoming). I have not got the bike back together yet, so I cant compare.
I don't know an easy way to tell if worn or not without dissasembly, which requires a special tool (at least to do it right and without damaging). Possibly try the higher weight oil 1st, then if that doesn't cure the bottomint, try the preload shim described by Andrew.
I haven't checked my rear shocks yet to see how bad they are.
