Thanks for the replies. I think I'll see about changing the springs
first. I checked the plugs and they do not appear fouled, The bike is
not smoking and there does not appear to be any appeciable oil
consumption. So the springs will be the first to go.

I have heard that if your valve guides are worn a little oil can seep
down
and cause the pinging.

Correct me if I am wrong anyone....Ian

Over the last several weeks I've noticed that my Eldo is pinging when I
roll on some throttle.I don't think my driving habits hsve chsnged sny.
I put in new points and checked the timing and advance with a strobe.
All seems fine. I'm using the same high octane gas as usual. Could the
timing advance springs need changing? Could this be carbon build
