Loopers,

After looking at my newly aquired "LAPD" Eldo I am beginning to suspect
that this may be a "real" police bike, not just a police version sold to
the general public.

It has all the normal LAPD goodies: Police bars, Big police speedo, Floor
boards, finger groove levers, boot guards, ignition switch mounted in
place of the left tool box, LaFranconi Slash-backs, etc.

Here is the weird stuff: Siren mount on left muffler mount, second lever
on the left handlebar (presumedly for the siren), steering stabilizer on
the right side of the headstock. The valve covers are chromed too.

The paint job is strange too. It may have been repainted, but there are
no Guzzi logos on the painted parts anywhere, although all the striping
is correct and it says "Use Shell Oil" in Italian on the gas tank. The
fenders are painted plain black with no stripes.

There is a cool "Clear Hooter" chrome horn on the bike. It is not mounted
so I don't know if this was original or not.

The bike is in pretty rough shape right now, but it will be nice someday.
It has only 6800 miles on the odo and I believe it, since it is wearing
the original Pirellis with good tread on the front. It is missing any
auxilliary lights, the rear crash bars and bag mounts, the seat, and any
police gear or logos.

Oh by the way, it was built in Oct 1972, ser #55207.

What do you guys think?
