Ugh.. I think I'll avoid messing with moving the pump. I'll check out the Guzziology.
I thought if the bike originally had a chain, it had the later oil pump and dimensions to take the aftermarket gearset. It's the steel gear setup that has a different oil pump and location, no?
Thanks for the heads up!

The chaine and tensioner replacement is simple enoughand will last what...50k miles? As I read through guzziology the other night, it is noted that the oil pump has to be relocated on the chain bike to accommodate the gears. Much fiddling, placing and drilling.

Hi there fellow lopperz,
Well the 74 LAPD is all apart and I've looked at the timing chain (and gears) for the 1st time ... uh huh... so much slack the chain was wearing on the side of the case. So...
I'm considering gears since I need sprockets and chain. What's your opinion? Price vs. longevity.
Just did the sprockets and chain on the LeMans and it was pretty straight forward.
There have been gears (and chains) on my fav. flea e-market (Ebay) but none today.
What's yer thoughts on this...?
Thanks
