Actually, a more common error is to ignore the four rubber 0-rings on the
head studs. After years of heat, these things get as hard as cement. Even
with all the head nuts off, you still can't remove the head. The ham fisted
approach is to start prying on the head/cylinder joint.
You MUST find a way to prise out those nasty o-rings before trying to lift
the head.
