The lack of a cush drive is one big reason (in my book) to not lighten the flywheel. Like it or not, all that mass of the flywheel does help to cushion the blows from the cylinders firing. That, combined with a transmission that is, shall we say, "deliberate" in nature certainly limits the utility of such a modification.
