I'll have to look more closely at the steering head. I didn't have the jack handy to get the front wheel off the ground. Without it it's hard for me to lift the front of the bike (as it is on the centerstand) and see if there is any play there.
As for the "bang". It's more like a "knock" when I hit a big bump. Like something is hitting the top of the tubes. I have noticed it before over big bumps but it seems to happen more easily now. I wonder if the fork tubes have slid down? Don't the fork plugs hold them at the top though.
Time to get my Loop memory back :-) It's been a while since I was last in there.
