I took the valve covers off the engine on my 73' police model today
to adjust the valves and got a suprise. One of the cylinder bolts
was broken. The one that is broken is one that goes through the rocker
support assembly. I'm going to need to get one of the cylinder studs. I
could use some advise on replacing the broken stud/bolt.
I was wondering if the studs are normally difficult to un-thread from
the engine case. I am wanting to replace the broken bolt without pulling
the head, cylinder etc. I have enough of the stud exposed to get ahold
of after the rocker support assy is removed. The stud,
of course, is the one that is furthest inboard making it a little
difficult to get heat to the engine case. The weather is perfect here
right now so I got to get this bike on the road quickly.
Thanks folks
